Professor Emin Gün Sirer's blog post has garnered attention in two articles about the decline of BitCoin. IEEE Spectrum speaks of BitCoin's possible imminent failure and quotes Sirer for his assertation that BitCoin users could have power over technical decisions, if only they actually used that power and expressed their preferences. Ittay Eyal and Sirer were quoted in a similar article by the Harvard Political Review for suggesting that BitCoin's decline may be due to the fundamental structure of the BitCoin system, not the users.
