05/17/04: Take-home: there were two errors in the equation in Problem 3c. They are fixed here. Note in the pessimistic case (which you have to do) there is a cost of one round-trip to unlock and release an object even if the transaction chooses not to update it. My apologies.

05/16/04: The entire take-home is now posted.

05/14/04: Note THE DUE DATE ON THE EXAM AS POSTED IS WRONG! It is supposed to be midnight the night of the 20th, not the 19th as posted.
