Project 1 Proposal

Step 1: Find your group (...or it may find you later)

Try to form groups. We encourage using the Partner Finding Category on EdDiscussions (link). If you do not form a group and submit a proposal individually, you risk being assigned to a group by us.

Choose a platform or language

What will you use to complete your project? Will you write code yourself? If so, what language will you use? Will you use any libraries, engines, frameworks, third-party APIs?

Some options people have chosen in previous years:

  • Implement core graphics algorithms in C++
  • Build something in a popular game engine like Unity or Unreal
  • Build a mobile app for iOS or Android
  • Build applications that run in a browser

What do you plan to learn, and what resources will you use?

Do you plan to build a fluid simulation? If so, what resources will you use to learn about it? Will you be implementing a technique from a particular paper?

Maybe you plan to build a game in a popular engine. What tutorials or other learning resources will you use?

We want you to include specific resources, like links to specific tutorials or publications or reference material.

What will you do?

Come up with an initial project that you can execute as you learn your chosen topic/platform/area. You might check out the "Project Inspiration!" page, which was put together by the staff of last year's practicum, for inspiration.

It is fine if your Project 2 ends up being a direct extention of Project 1, but we want you to scope out the first project to take up until about half way through the semester.

What is your plan?

Come up with a timeline for project 1. If you plan to divide different aspects of the work among different team members, then come up with a timeline for what each team member will be doing.

You should get your basic platform up and running and producing images as a basic step. Include images of in the report and/or links to video.
