To enroll in CS4410, the student must have successfully completed CS 3410 or ECE 3140 / CS 3420.
To enroll in CS4411, the student must have either successfully completed CS4410, or be enrolled in CS4410 in Fall 2016
Yes, as long as the time overlap is 15 minutes or less. If you are in the College of Arts & Sciences, you will need to pick up a time overlap permission form from the academic services office, obtain signatures from the instructors of both classes, and return the form to KG17 Klarman Hall. If you are in the College of Engineering, you will need to get an Add/Drop form from from Engineering Registrar's or Advising Office, get a signature from the 4410 instructor, get it stamped by Megan Gatch on the first Floor of Gates, and then return the form to 158 Olin. This process will only work if you are otherwise elligible to take the course (e.g., it will not help you circumvent the wait list).
The same applies to 4411 although we might be more lenient with the overlap since 4411 does not meet every week.
Unfortunately, no. This semester there are too many people wishing to take the class for a grade to allow registered students to elect the audit option.
Important: Unlike previous semseters, there is no option to change your enrollment status to audit mid-semester.
At the time of writing this (August 24) there are 324 students enrolled, another 20 CIS students who have been given permissing to enroll but who have not yet done so, and another 25 on the waitlist. We think this means that some non-CIS students should be able to enroll. We are being strict about prerequisites this year, so if you would like to get off the waitlist, please fill out the following form.
It takes about 2 days for CMS to sync with the registrar. Please do not request to be added/dropped. It will happen automatically. We do not plan to use CMS for the dissemination of assignments.
Each week, the students will solve one problem in the "Problem Solving" sessions. The TAs will bring the problem, and will work with students in the session on these problems. These are not graded, and are intended to help students build a better understanding of the kind of problems they may see in examinations.
We are reserving the Wednesday office hours for discussions on the projects. The students are expected to lead these sessions, and should bring concrete problems for the TAs. In case no student brings up a problem, the TAs will be available to answer non-project related problems (that is, project related problems will be given higher priority, but feel free to come with non-project related questions too).
Yes, but at your own risk.

No, but we highly recommend attending these sessions as they will help you tremendously in both understanding the material as well as in exams.
No, the office hours serve this purpose.
There will be one question from the problem solving sessions in the final exam.

Any other student registered in CS4410 can be your partner. To find one, use the "Search for Teammates!" postPiazza or any other means by which humans communicate with other human beings.
No. You can have a different partner for each homework. Just write down the name of your partner for each homework on the cover sheet of that homework.
No. It is your responsibility to find a homework partner.
There will be one question from the homeworks in the final exam.
The homework submission deadlines are at noon. If you submit your homework at 12:01PM, we will consider it a late submission.
