Welcome

My current research is in the field of evolvable hardware. After reading a number of papers presented at the NASA/DOD Conference on Evolvable Hardware and the IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, I decided to start a project aimed at evolving analog circuits using a genetic algorithm. My idea is to repeatedly program a new type of Field Programmable Analog Array (FPAA) with a population of different circuit configurations. The signal that each circuit outputs is used to control a robot. The circuits that produce the longest distance traveled by the robot are then crossed over and mutated to produce a new population and the process starts over again. After many generations of this process, the algorithm should yield a circuit configuration that makes the robot move forward. Two robots were used: a biped and a damaged quadruped.
