The
Solar Decathlon, founded by the U.S. Department of Energy
and managed by its National Renewable Energy Laboratory,
is an international competition between university and
college students to research, design, and construct a
completely solar-powered home. In the fall of 2005,
each team will assemble its system on the National Mall
in Washington, D.C. for a week of public tours and evaluated
contests.
