Our Company

Lookshare Technologies is an early stage startup founded by Cornell alumni. We are creating a Heads-Up Display Glasses device (which works like a computer in your glasses), to help students and professionals organize notes and assignments. Unique features of the glasses will include a display with image capability in the user’s full field of vision, and the ability to access files and images from a cloud server.

Visual Recognition

Our glasses device is built around a user interface that uses technology similar to that of the Xbox Kinect to pick up on user hand gestures. The glasses will process hand gesture input, and will display responses to the user’s action on a microdisplay.

There are many exciting projects available for students interested in working with this kind of technology. These projects range from the analysis of typing motions on a projected virtual keyboard, to the analysis of hand gestures that will drag files or take pictures. Development will involve work with display and camera drivers. The lowlevel development language will be decided after gauging the team’s programming experience.

Mobile Application Development

We also have projects available for students interested in working on the development of a mobile application that will be essential to the functionality of our glasses. This application will have two main features:
  1. It will serve as a self-sufficient file organization system for images that will be received directly from the glasses via a Bluetooth connection.
  2. It will have the capability to sync with, and load files onto a cloud server when an internet connection is available.
Depending on student interest, this application will be written in Java and/or Objective-C to support Android and Apple operating systems.

Cloud Server Development

Our glasses will rely on a master cloud server for file organization and storage. This project will focus on the development of this server, which will enable users to share documents between their glasses and computer. This will include creating a user friendly and easy to search through file organization system. The system will be setup so that users are able to add documents from their computer to the server and selectively sync it with their smartphone. As a result, these files will become viewable and editable on their glasses too.

Development languages will be decided after discussions with the students about their backgrounds and interests.

After working on any of these projects, students who are a good fit with our company will be offered an opportunity to continue working with us at Lookshare.
