Disks
You will need a few 3.5" floppy or Zip disks for your assignments.
Why?
No personal files may be left on CIT's public machines.
CIT frequently cleans out files on the public machines.
Backups on the same disk are helpful, but you should also have a backup copy on a different disk in case the original disk becomes unreadable.
You probably want to maintain the state of your newsgroup reading so that you can easily spot new posts.
So, you must store your files on your own disks. Other things
to note:
- Back up your programs to protect yourself in case
something is lost, e.g., the night before the due date.
- Sometimes a useful way to get a backup is to e-mail a copy to yourself.
- Note that most labs have Zip drives, but the instructors'
machines don't.
