Things I Like

On any arbitrary day, you can find me doing one of the following:
  • Reading a mystery/thriller novel - Agatha Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, John Grisham, Dan Brown
  • On a Wikipedia freefall starting from almost any random topic
  • Watching some TV series - Friends, House MD, Boston Legal, The West Wing, Breaking Bad, The Big Bang Theory
  • Theorizing with friends about philosophical thoughts
I am an enthusiastic quizzer, and have taken part in a number of quizzes during my school and college years. I was the Captain of my Hall Quiz team, and am the proud founder of RP Hall Quiz Club. I also started a blog, titled Quizitio Ergo Sum, for getting junior undergrads interested in quizzing. At Cornell, Tuesday night trivia at the Big Red Barn is one of my big favorites (partly the reason for my love for Wikipedia). I also like to blog, though not frequently.

I usually am a big fan of movie nights - be it at a friend's place, in the theater, or even in the lab (after-hours). I can tag along for almost any movie, except for Westerns and Film-Noirs. The Lord of the Rings trilogy comprises my three favorite movies - looking forward to The Hobbit. I also like to listen to music, and sometimes even try my hand at the keyboard. Linkin Park is my favorite band.

As for outdoor activities, I am crazy about football (not the American kind). I play sort-of-okayish in the attacking midfield position (atleast by my college standards). I follow the English Premier League closely, with my whole-hearted support going to Manchester United (Loved the signing of Van Persie). I also like playing/watching cricket (not so much at Cornell though) and Sachin Tendulkar is my favorite player (he has been playing cricket since the time I was born). I also like to go Bowling (high score: 157) and Laser Tagging. In my internships abroad, I have developed more 'adrenalic' hobbies like Bungee Jumping, White Water Rafting, Kayaking. Check out my Bungee Jump at Whistler here. I also enjoyed the experience of cross country hiking and mountaineering in Canada, and completed the gruelling Grouse Grind trek in Vancouver.
