Apr 26 The "symmetric" tetrahedron problem is discussed in section 8.2.4 in CVL. perhaps helpful to look at that before you start workin on P1 of A7.
April 25 Assignment A7 (all 3 problems) are available. Typo on page 3. Regarding what P2 is to display, the "e" should be "rho", the spectral radius.
April 24 A6 is graded
April 23 Assignment A7 (the first two problems) are available
April 22 Assignment A7 (the first problem) is available
April 16 Prelim 2 Solution

Mar 27 In the parallel Jacobi SVD problem, it is not necessary for the 2x2 svds to be normalized. That is, just compute a pair of rotations U1 = [c1 s1;-s1 c1] and V1 = [c2 s2; -s2 c] so that U1'*[2x2]*V is diagonal. Don't worry about the sign or ordering of the diagonal entries. The reason for not caring is that the final approximate SVD does not have to be normalized, ie. the Sigma(k,k) do not have to be ordered and nonnegative.
Mar 27 Typo in A5 handout. In Problem 4 "All Roots", f(x) = sin(alpha*x) - x, not f(x) = alpha*x - x.
Mar 27 Assignment 4 is graded and Assignment 5 is available with test scripts. Go here.
Mar 22 The final exam is on Tuesday, May 14, 9-11:30AM, 228 Malott Hall.
Mar 15 The first two problems for A5 (due April 4) are available.
Mar 8. As of today, the class meets in 205 Thurston.
Mar 8. Assignment 4 is available. The online pdf of the handout is a revision of what was distributed in class on Mar6. A few typos are corrected and a few ambiguities are resolved. Some hints are also included in the revision.
Mar 1 Assignment 3 is graded. Prelim 1 is graded and here is the solution guide.
