Relationship to CS 222

Students interested in computational molecular biology who have completed CS 222 (Introduction to Scientific Computing) or any other comparable   numerical methods course, should come to the first class to see  about the possibility of doing an independent study parallel with this course.

For CS majors, CS 221 can be used to satisfy the Numerical Methods Core requirement.

Required: Getting Started with Matlab 5 (R. Pratap)

Recommended: Introduction to Scientific Computing 2nd Ed (C. Van Loan)
