For those of you using Linux, a Linux port of the v1.1 JDK can be found at blackdown.org. Download the green threads (user-level threads), not the native thread version, becuase it will likely be faster. Also, figure out if you are runningglibc or libc on your system, and which version, by reading the Readme file available in the JDK-1.1.7/docs directory of one of the mirrors. On Redhat 6.0 (the new kernel), you will need to use JDK v1.1.7 for glibc/v3. Make sure you get the jdk and not the jre, which is just the runtime environment with no development tools. Email me if you can't get it to work. |
