About:

Our research group blends technical innovation and interdisciplinary design to explore new problems and opportunities across a variety of domains. Much of our work focuses on how the roles humans play as developers and users of technology is changing, especially in the face of AI.

• Humans as Objective Functions: How can new technology help tools better understand and interpret human values, preferences, and goals? Much of this work focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
• Humans as Sources of Data: As our technical solutions become increasingly reliant on data and machine learning, a key role for humans is to provide that data. We build systems that help users capture data that is important to applications in healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, etc.
• Humans as Adversaries: New technology can come with new threats. One such area of particular interest in our group is on video forensics.

We are based in Ithaca, NY, but happy to collaborate with people elsewhere. The group is led by Abe Davis, an assistant professor in the Computer Science Department at Cornell.
