Organizations

Namgyal Monastery - Web site of the North American branch of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's personal monastery. They offer regular weekend and summer retreats.

FPMT - Organization, started by Lama Yeshe (Lama Osel) and Lama Zopa for the propagation of Dharma to western students. Practice materials, teachings, bios, info on Mongolia.

Tibetan Cultural Center - Takster Rinpoche Thubten Norbu's center (the brother of His Holiness the Dalai Lama). Throughout the year, the Tibetan Cultural Center provides a place for workshops, teachings, seminars, initiations, retreats, and ceremonies relating to Tibetan religious practices.

Sera IMI House (Shedrup Sungdrel Ling) - A website devoted to Lama Zopa's project to house western monks in a tradition Tibetan monastic setting; includes pages on the life of a monk studying at Sera in India, things you need to visit Sera, and updates on the building project.

WTN News Archive - Daily updates from around the world; news ideas on Buddhism, the Dalai Lama, and Tibet.

HHDL webcast of Monlam '99 - Web site with His Holiness's public address at the Monlam festival in Washington DC in 2000.

Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery and International Retreat Center for Women - Web site devoted to Tenzin Palmo and her nunnery project. An English-born nun who practices the Kargyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, Tenzin Palmo is renowned for having spent 3 years living in a cave in the Himalayas.

 

Online Teachings

The Berzin Archives - Some collected Sutras and commentaries by Alexander Berzin, a long-time student of Tsenzhab Serkong Rinpoche.

Lam Rim.org - Mp3 recordings of many great Lamas, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Lama Sopa, Choden Rinpoche, Geshe Michael Roach, and others. Highly Recommended.

BIONA (Buddhist Information of N. America) - Free collected teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa, Geshe Sonam Rinchen, and many others. Also, a large collection of Mahayana sutras.

Chagdud Gonpa - Teachings from His Eminence Chagdud Rinpoche, a late lama in the Nyingma and Kargyu traditions.

 

Prison Projects

Liberation Prison Project - Venerable Robina Courtin's project to get Buddhism to people in prison who want to learn. Currently, she is organizing a pilgrimage to India to use the proceeds to help pay for the Project.

BPF (Buddhist Peace Fellowship) - Prison Project whose four goals are listed as 1. ministry 2. Correspondence 3. Training 4. Advocacy, Education, and Networking. You can read columns on the subject that appeared in BPF's magazine Turning the Wheel.

Ven. Thubten Chodron's Prison Dharma Page - Ven. Thupten Chodron is an American-born nun practicing in the Tibetan tradition. A student of Lama Zopa, Ven. Chodron, along with teaching and writing books on Buddhism, visits and writes to prisoners and posts some of the correspondence she receives to her site.

 

Dharma Bookstores

Snow Lion - Books on Tibetan culture, Buddhism, His Holiness. Claims to be the largest Tibetan Dharma site on the web.

Wisdom Publications - Bookstore started by students of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa (FPMT). Just published Essence of the Heart Sutra; an edited transcript of His Holiness's talk in California last year.

Paljor Publications - Indian bookstore that publishes title on Tibetan Buddhism from the LTWA (Library of Tibetan Works & Archives.
