Grading Process and Late Policy
 
We will not be accepting late work for credit. If you complete an assignment late, you may submit it with a written note explaining the circumstances. If the grader has not completed the grading, they will grade your work, but the score will be recorded as a zero. The instructor will keep a special folder with the explanatory notes you have written and possibly the score that would have been assigned if the work was submitted on time. At the end of the semester, before assigning final grades, she will read through all the notes in the folder one more time and consider reinstating or dropping the score for that assignment if it was an isolated incident and if it would indeed have changed the final grade.

Graded work will be returned in lecture. If you are not in class the day an assignment is returned, you may pick it up from Kathy Carpenter in 4115 Upson between the hours of 1:30 and 3:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you cannot make those time, you may send her mail to make another appointment (kathyc@cs). Otherwise, please respect the designated assignment pick-up times.

If you believe your work has been graded incorrectly, follow the regrade procedure . Note that a regrade form must be submitted to Kathy Carpenter in 4115 Upson Hall within 14 days from the time the assigment is returned in class.

The grader will consider your request and may regrade the entire submission from scratch. Your grade may go up or down.

Academic Integrity
 

Academic Integrity. The work you submit in this class is expected to be the result of your individual effort. You are free to discuss course material, approaches to problems, and details of the system with your colleagues, instructors, and consultants, but you should never misrepresent someone else's work as your own. Permissible cooperation should never involve a student possessing a copy of all or part of another student's program or other work regardless of whether that copy is on paper or in a computer file on a hard disk or a floppy disk. The only exception to these rules is when students work together to submit a joint project.

In addition, if you make use of material found on the Internet, in books or other printed publications, etc., you should prominently acknowledge the source consulted and the degree to which it influenced the work you are submitting.

It is also the student's responsibility to protect his/her work from unauthorized access. For example, do not discard copies of your programs in public places.

Violation of the Academic Integrity Code very often results in failure in the course and permanent notations on your Cornell academic records. If you have any question as to what constitutes ethical behavior, ask the instructor first. We will not be sympathetic to claims of ignorance or misunderstanding of the rules.

Note: We may run a program that compares code and detects cosmetic changes. We also plan to photocopy a random number of exams after grading.
