Exams

Mid terms will be in class, 50 minutes and closed book exams. They are:
Friday Sept 21
Wednesday Oct 3
Friday Oct 26
Monday Nov 19

There will be two final exams. One will be 9-11:30AM on Saturday Dec 8 and the other will be 2-4:30PM on Friday Dec 14. You may only take one of them. The questions will be different but of equivalent difficulty. The reason for the early option is that we do not have enough grading capability to grade 235 exams between Dec 14 and Dec 17 when grades must be recorded. Thus we appreciate any student taking the exam earlier if they can.

Exam Rules:
If you need to bring your laptop, leave it in your backpack. Do not take out a cell phone, do not leave papers on the floor, and do not talk with other students. Violation of these rules will mean that your exam will be collected and you will receive a zero for the exam.

Grading Policy

Your course grade will be based on how much of the material you have mastered. You can grade me on how many of you get A's.

For homeworks, you can work with other students but you must write up your own solutions in your own words and understand everything you turn in. If two solutions look amost identical, I may email you to stop in and see me. If you can explain your solutions you get full credit. If not, then you get a zero.

Grading of individual assignments will take into account readability, style, and correctness. If your paper is barely readable, we will return it to you ungraded.

Assignments turned in late will receive half credit.

Regrades must be requested using this form. You may only request a regrade if you believe we made a mistake. Submitting a regrade request to see if you get more points is not an acceptable reason.
