Lecture Times

Lecture videos this semester will be posted asynchronously on the lessons page. However, we will be using the one (and only) lecture section for more interactive demos and question-and-answer sessions. Attendance is not mandatory for these lectures. As long as you are acceptably keeping up with the lesson material, you can skip them, and we will not take attendance. Furthermore, you can always watch videos of these presentations after the fact on the Zoom page.

Because of this policy, we are allowing students to petition course overlaps with the lecture time only (overlaps with discussion sections are not allowed). Keep in mind that this petition process is highly variable across colleges (Engineering, Arts and Sciences, Agriculture, etc.) There is no guarantee that the registrar of your college will approve such a petition. But we will approve the petition if your college registrar does.

Discussion Sections (Labs)

Because of the change in format this semester, labs are now held twice a week, either Tuesday-Thursday or Wednesday-Friday. While the overall amount of work has not been increased from past years, the new meeting schedule is to increase personalized contact time and to make sure that you are keeping up with work as the semester progresses.

Labs will be held either in Upson 255 (for sections meeting in-person) or online via Zoom. The Zoom link will be distinct for each section. Please refer to the table below for the correct link. We request that you have your web camera on during section so that you can be seen (though virtual backgrounds are fine).

For students in in-person sections you may not attend section until you are assigned a seat. This is true even if you have successfully enrolled in the in-person section via student center. Seating assignments will be posted in the CMS entry Seating Assignments. For most in-person sections, your seat number will refer to the following seating chart However, section 221 has moved to a new room (Olin 155) and will not use this alternate seating chart.

Attendance is semi-mandatory for lab sections. It is possible to get credit for lab work outside of class, using the online lab system. However, several labs will have manually graded questions that must be checked off in section (not in office hours) via a conversation with your lab instructor. This is intended to monitor your well-being, as well as to get you to wrestle with more interesting, open-ended questions.

If you have an occasional scheduling conflict (e.g. religious holidays, athletic events), notify your section leader listed in the table below.
