Instructor Office Hours

Office hours with the professor can be for anything you want. You can ask about an assignment, a lab, an exam, or even just general problems with the course. You should also feel free just to come by and say “Hi” to the professor.

The downside of these office hours is that there a lot less of them, and certainly not enough for everyone to get help. This semester, the professor will hold his office hours at 10:05-11:05 am on Tue-Thu in the Bailey Hall lower lobby. These hours are between the two lectures and ideal for students after the first lecture, or before the second.

If these times do not work for you, you may always schedule an appointment. Keep in mind, however, that appointment requests need a lead-time of a full day (and preferrably two). If you need immediate help that cannot wait, it is best to go to consulting hours or post your question on Piazza.

Consulting Hours

Due to ongoing construction this semester, consulting hours will no longer be held in ACCEL. Instead, they will be held in two different locations, depending on the day of the week.

  • Sunday consulting hours will be held in Upson 142.
  • Monday-Thursday consulting hours will be held in Upson 225.

In addition, there are three conflicts with consulting hours in Upson 225. That room is not available on October 17, November 21, and December 5. While the first two dates are the days of the evening exam (so this is not an issue), the last date is in the middle of Assignment 7. We have arranged for consulting hours on those three days to be held in Phillips 318.

Drop-in Help

Drop-in office hours are on a a first-come first-served basis. To get help, you should add yourself to the online queue. You will be called when it is your time. If you are not present at the Green Room when it is your time, your spot will be given to the next person after a few minutes.

One-on-One Help

Consultants are available to give one-on-one help on a limited basis. One-on-one help is only available for help on exams, course concepts, or labs, and may not be use to get help on an assignment. In addition, one-on-one sessions are not available when student demand is high, such as before an exam or an assignment is due.

To schedule a one-on-one session, you must sign up in CMS. If you decide not to use the session, please remove your name from the schedule within an hour of the time slot.

TA Office Hours

TA Office Hours are very similar to the instructor’s office hours. They are held less often, but they are for any type of question you might have about the course. Like the instructor’s office hours, these are generally held during normal working hours and do not overlap consulting hours (though occasionally a TA may offer a weekend office hour). For the exact hours available, look at the calendar above.

It is also possible to schedule an appointment with a TA. However, unless you have received permission from the instructor, only contact the TA for your section when requesting an appointment.
