Faculty Personnel Changes

New Faculty

Gregory Morrisett of Carnegie Mellon University, who works in programming languages, will join the faculty as an Assistant Professor in January, 1996. Associate Professor Eva Tardos of the Operations Research and Industrial Engineering (ORIE) department assumes a joint appointment in Computer Science.

Sabbaticals

Sam Toueg and Fred Schneider are returning from one year sabbaticals and Keshav Pingali will return from sabbatical in Spring 1996. Sabbaticals for 1995-1996 include Daniel Huttenlocher, Kenneth Birman, Robert Constable (Fall 1995), and Charles Van Loan (Spring 1996). Ronitt Rubinfeld, awarded an NSF Visiting Professorship for Women, will be on leave at MIT for the academic year. Bruce Donald will be on leave during the 1995-1996 academic year.

Promotions

Stephen Vavasis was promoted to associate professor with tenure.
