Newsgroup and Email

The official course newsgroup is cornell.class.cs415. You can also reach the course staff by sending email to cs415@cs.cornell.edu (mailto:cs415@cs.cornell.edu).

We will try to respond to questions within one working day. If we judge that the question might have been better directed to the newsgroup, the question may be forwarded there unless an explicit request is included to the contrary. The most important rule of posting to the newsgroup is that code relating to projects must not be posted. Infractions may be considered violations of the Policy on Academic Integrity (http://www.cs.cornell.edu/degreeprogs/ugrad/CSMajor/index.htm#ai). If you are unsure if a posting is ok, don't risk it. However, this does not preclude asking questions about why a bit of code acts in a certain way, as long as the code in question comes from a lecture or from the code provided by coursestaff, and not code you have to write.

Office Hours

To make the most out of office hours, make sure you have attempted the project before asking for help. Bring a hardcopy of your code. Laptops are not allowed. Focused to-the-point questions will have priority over long broad questions.
