CS490 Supervised Undergraduate Reserach Computer Game Design - Spring 2003 Assignment #5 - Due March 26th -------------------- Meeting in your groups, complete the development of your group game ideas over Spring break. Working from the ideas and visual motives (i.e stories, narratives, etc.) that you and your team members developed in class last week, create a main character, storyline, setting or general game idea which is the result of your groups' interests. Once you have a central idea, each team member should feel free to develop various elements of the game as they see fit: characters, storyline, setting. You do not need to specify a single, unified game idea in detail. Rather, each team member should be able to contribute specific characters, settings or objects to a loosely-defined central idea. Divide the work among team members in your group as you see fit. To record and document the development of your ideas, each group should submit a one-page summary which includes a description of the setting, storyline, narrative and/or main character for the central idea of your game. This may or may not include specific characters, objects or settings developed by each team member seperately. Ideally, your group should include some prelimiary artwork along with the summary. Groups should be prepared to demonstrate and discuss their game ideas with the other groups in class after Spring break (March 26th). (This is not a final presentation, you will just be sharing your ideas with the other groups to get their feedback). ** Note: If your group would like to get a head start on game development, feel free to assign and/or start the technical tasks of developing your games according to the natural interests of each team member. These tasks include: Graphics output, Physics & collision detection (if any), Character objects (as Finite State Machines), Environment objects (if any), User input, Artwork, etc.
