Eshan Chattopadhyay is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Cornell University, where he has been on the faculty since 2018. Before joining Cornell, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and at the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing in Berkeley. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016, and his B.Tech in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2011.
His research is in theoretical computer science, focusing on computational complexity, the role of randomness in computation, and cryptography. His work has been recognized with a number of awards, including the Gödel Prize and the National Academy of Sciences Held Prize, as well as honors such as a Sloan Research Fellowship, an NSF CAREER Award, and a Best Paper Award at STOC.
