I was born in FuZhou, China. For the sake of history, I was
the 3rd generation born in the same village house. I guess my
family didn't move much until I was born. Because of some family
situations, I traveled quite a bit during childhood. My childhood
can best be described by this incessant traveling ball.
My claim to fame
was that I attended 6 elementary schools (1st grade in Canton,
2nd grade in Shanghai, 3rd grade in FuZhou, 4th grade back in
Canton, 5th grade in Hong Kong and 6th grade in Oakland,
California). Because of these experience, I acclimate to
different environments quickly, learn a new dialect, meet new
friends and say goodbye to them in a year. You can guess how many
pen-pals I have. I wish they all have internet soon so I can
e-mail them. :)
From all these traveling, I learned to speak several dialects/languages. But I can't speak any of them perfectly. My Cantonese has a Mandarin accent, my Mandarin has a Cantonese accent and my English has a Chinese accent... :)

I went to Mills College(an all women's college) for my freshwoman year. Then I transferred to U.C. Berkeley to meet more guy friends (just kidding, I went there for their CS program, seriously...). My Cal years were a memorable part of my life. The classes were challenging and student life were awesome. Can you believe I learn to love college football. I used to think football was a brutal sport and I never understood what those guys were wrestling about. Well, until my friend invited me to a Cal football game. Then I realized how exciting it was to watch a fumble, a turnover, oh and a touchdown! I enjoy the shouting, the cards, the waves and the Cal Band. Go Bears!
During the summers, I worked at Mills College, U.S. Forest Service and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. After graduation, I had a choice of going to grad school or working at HP. I got so burned out from that Digital Design class(CS 150) that I decided to join the work force.
My desire to get a master's degree led me to Cornell University at Ithaca, NY. I am getting my Master of Engineering in Computer Science. I will graduate in May 1998. See LifeAtCornell.

Working at HP
My first project at HP was developing the Credit Comment Diary(CCD) and an Object-Oriented Data Populator(C++) for General Ledger and Schedules at Corporate Finance Systems.
I then joined the Messaging Enabled Process Reengineering group in Corporate Network Services doing the FirstClass project. The FirstClass team(6 of us) built a Messaging-Enabled Process(MEP) infrastructure for HP. This MEP server enabled business process re-engineering of many HP business processes such as Employee Electronic Reimbursement(EER), Vendor Payment(VP), Expenditure Authorization Listing(EAL), Compensation On-Line Reporting System(COLRS), Rapid Acquisition of PC/Peripheral products for Internal Delivery (RAPID), Generic Approval Routing and Tracking, Staffing Requisition, STREAM, and Termination & Transfer.
I then joined Client Server Engineering group doing IT technical consulting. See Resume for details.
My desire for further education led me to Cornell University at Ithaca, NY.

I love traveling. My goal is to visit every country in this world in my life time.
In May 1996, I went to Grand Canyon with some friends. We hiked from the Rim(start at Kaibab Trial) down to the river(Phantom Ranch) and back to the rim (Bright Angels Trial) in ONE day. Total distance is 17.7 miles, with an elevation drop of 4600 ft. It took me over 14 hours to finish. We started at 7AM and finished at 9PM. I was limping for the next 2 days(but proudly limping.. :> ) My friends and I were talking about hiking Mt. Whitney(24 miles) sometime in the future.
Visited Canada in August 1996. Photo slideshow will be on line soon.. As soon as I can squeeze some time from my projects.
Joined a safari camping tour in Australia in November, 1996. I plan to put some awesome pictures of the Great Barrier Reef on line. I think I need 30 hours a day to finish this homepage.
Traveled to Death Valley, Las Vegas, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, and Grand Canyon during Christmas 1996.
Hiked Half Doom, Yosemite and made it all the way to the top in May 1997. Total distance is 17 miles.
During Fall break 1997, I went to Pennsylvania with a few Cornellians. We went to Hershey's, Penn's Cave, Pittsburgh, and Falling Waters.
I want to travel to Europe after graduting from Cornell. I am thinking about Rome, London, Paris, Germany, etc. Any suggestions where I should go?
I like any outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, backpacking, etc.
I am a member of the HP Toastbusters' club. I love Toastmaster's club. I completed my CTM(Compentent ToastMasters) certificate from Toastmasters International.
