Soving a Heat Transfer Problem on the Spider Mesh

previous :next

The heat transfer problem (without generation) is modeled with the Laplace equation. Constraints are given at the boundary and the Laplace equation is solved (numerically) to determine the values for points in the interior of the region.

Here, we have chosen to make the temperature on the boundary proportional to the angle that the surfaces makes with the vertical, such as would be the case with a very distance radiant heat source. This image shows the resulting heat distribution.
