Volodymyr Kuleshov

About

Volodymyr Kuleshov is the Joan Eliasoph, M.D. Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Cornell Tech, the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute, and the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science. He obtained his Ph.D. in computer science from Stanford University, where he received the Arthur Samuel Best Thesis Award.

Kuleshov’s research focuses on machine learning and its applications in science. His specific interests include generative and probabilistic methods, diffusion-based generative algorithms, and their applications in modeling language and biological sequences.

Kuleshov’s work has been recognized with an NSF CAREER Award, an NIH MIRA Award, and multiple industry grants. His work has also been featured in publications like Nature Biotechnology, Nature Medicine, and Nature Communications.

Kuleshov is also a co-founder of two startup companies: Inception AI, which develops the world’s first diffusion language models, and Afresh, a company that uses AI to reduce food waste and that is deployed in 10% of U.S. supermark
