Golan Yona, a Burroughs-Welcome postdoctoral fellow in computational molecular biology at Stanford University, will join the Cornell faculty in January as an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science. Yona works in computational molecular biology, searching for global principles that might chart a "road map" of the space of all possible proteins. His goal: to establish a reliable, unified framework for sequence and structure analysis.

"Cornell's computer science is an excellent place to develop my research program. The university is putting a lot of attention toward genomic science, acknowledging the importance of this field. The wide interest in my research, and the collegial atmosphere in the Department of Computer Science, convinced me that Cornell would be the best place for me."
