Cornell professor Dan Huttenlocher has been named a general chair for the 2006 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR).

CVPR is the main IEEE conference in North America in the area of computer vision. Like many other outstanding conferences related to CS it has a low acceptance rate, generally 25 percent or less.  Usually there are over 1000 submitted papers and also over 1000 attendees at the conference.
