The Intel Corporation has donated $40,000 of computer equipment to the Intelligent Software Systems group led by Keshav Pingali. The long-term goal of this group is to develop compiler technology that will permit programmers to focus on high level algorithmic issues without having to worry about coding for efficiency or fault-tolerance. The Intel grant is in support of an ongoing project on the use of analytical models in self-optimizing software systems, being done jointly with the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
