Jon Kleinberg and Bart Selman both spoke at the 2004 AAAS annual meeting. Selman presented his work on "Phase Transitions and Algorithm Design" at the "Phase Transitions in Computer Science" symposium. Kleinberg presented joint work with David Kempe (graduate-student alum) and Eva Tardos on "Models and Algorithms for Local Transmission of Information in Social Networks" at the "Community Structure of the Internet and the WWW: Mathematical Analyses" symposium.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science's annual meeting (http://www.aaas.org/meetings/index.html) "attracts more science and science policy leaders than any other single meeting in the United States". "No other scientific meeting brings together the breadth of science, engineering, and technology from the world's premier researchers in the way seen at AAAS."
