MBone Provides Audio and Video Across the Internet

Main Point(s):
MBone (Multicast Backbone) is a network
technology that provides group communication such as video
conferencing and audio. It uses regular internet links and delivers
multicast messages simultaneiusly to multiple destinations. The
sofewares are available to many researchs that can use Mbone to
further develop networking protocols and application tools.
Possible Use(s):
MBone provides a good testbed for various
networking applications.
Extensions:
More work on routing protocols is needed for Mbone. Mbone can be developed
into some application-specific area, such as video conferencing etc.
