Background

Even though menus are long and are filled with text, you never really know what you are going to get until the food is right in front of you. This has forced many to only eat foods they have eaten before and not explore new dishes. There can also be language barriers that further discourage exploration. However, restaurants need customers to try different foods in order to generate greater customer satisfaction and create their own niches. In response to this problem, this project will create an application for a local restaurant that fixes this issue.

Project Summary

We will be working with PlumTree in creating an AR app that allows any user at the restaurant to point their phone at the menu and see a 3D model of the food they will eat, ratings on the specific dish from previous customers, and greater descriptions of the food such as where the food came from and how it was handled. PlumTree is a great client to have as they have dishes in Japanese and English, which allows us to tackle this language barrier head on. This app will present information in a novel and useful way for customers looking for something new to eat. The goal for the client is that this can give PlumTree more customers with this technology.
