Background

The clients are the founders of AYApps. AYApps is a start-up that was founded under the belief that mobile and social networking technology can be made useful to physically bring people together in one place and encourage people to be more social. They are trying to add to the current notion of Social Network Service that help people to interact and connect in online world by bringing that interaction to the real world on a physical level.

Project Description

The clients write:

As our first product, we are building a mobile application that makes meet-ups and events between groups of people quick and easy. We try to make the whole process of meeting friends and enjoying social interactions seamless by breaking down many barriers that make group meetings complicated. We are currently almost finished with iOS beta version. We are looking for team of students to build our application on Android platform or on the web. We will eventually implement our app on all three platforms, but looking for help to get there faster.

The basic structure of the application will be similar to Facebook’s mobile application, but smaller in scale, of course. Major functionalities include newsfeed, schedule management, group management, notifications and messaging. Since we have our backend setup already, students will be focusing on the front-end.

Note

  • We would prefer students with experience in either Android or web-app development. However this is not a requirement. If new to this development environment, we believe that the student will gain extensive hands-on experience in mobile/web development become proficient by the end of the semester.
  • At the end of the semester, we are willing to consider each of the team members for possible recruitment to our team.
  • Note that this is an entrepreneurial project. It is essential that the ownership of all rights to the design and code are agreed in advance.
