Grading Policy

In grading this project we followed the baseline grades specified in the project description with the following exceptions:

Exceptionally good write-ups earned a slight bonus ( B -> B+; B+ -> A-; A -> A+ ).
Write-ups lacking crucial steps of the decryption process were penalized slightly ( B -> B-; B+ -> B; A -> A- ).
Solutions that employed unjustifiable methods, such as partial plaintext recovery followed by a Web search to locate the full text, were penalized slightly ( B -> B-; B+ -> B; A -> A- ).

The grades for this project fall into the following distribution:

Procedure for Regrades

Graders make mistakes. Write a clear explanation of what mistake you believe was made in assigning your grade. Return it to the instructor before or after a lecture. All regrade requests must be submitted by the end of class, Tuesday October 8.
