Project Presentations

Project presentations will be held on May 4th and May 6th.

Each group will have three to four minutes (in other words, at most 240 seconds) to present your project. Note that this isn't much time. Remember that such short presentations are quite hard to prepare as you have to distill your project to an extreme. You will be able to show 2 or 3 slides, which should just give an idea of:

We do not expect you to go into details of how you actually solved the problem or discuss the method you used, as you will not have time. But you're welcome to mention in a few words what the basic method is, if you can fit it in.

You can use transparencies, PowerPoint, Keynote or other computerized slides, or the blackboard. We strongly suggest that you do not use the board as it takes more time to write things up. If you want to use slides from a computer, you need to email them to me (filip@cs.cornell.edu) by 9am on the day of your talk so that I can check they work and set things up so that the presentations run smoothly. If you want to use some other computerized format, let me know and I should be able to accomodate you.

Please provide us with one copy of your slides on paper before your talk (or a copy of your notes if you're using the board). You don't need to make copies for the class.

You will be graded based on:

(Hint: running over time is the best way to show that you have not prepared well).

If you would like feedback on your slides, or other comments on what you plan to present, send us email or come to office hours.
