  • Dec. 12: Sean Ogden's Office hours are cancelled for today
  • Dec. 9: We are making available Fall 2013 Prelim 1 and Fall 2013 Prelim 2.
  • Nov 21: EGS and RvR are going to be having dinner at the Ivy Room at 6:30pm tonight. Everyone's welcome to come and chat about hacking, bitcoins, sailing, banjos, ukuleles and unicycles.
  • Nov 19: We are making available Fall 2012 Prelim 2 to aid in preparation for prelim 2.
  • Oct 23: Students do not need to email the course staff in order to take the makeup exam for Prelim 2.
  • Oct 22: Profs. Sirer and van Renesse will be having dinner with students at the Ivy Room at 6:45 tonight. All are welcome.
  • Oct 20: Miniproject 2 is out and the due date is on CMS. The task is to build a robust malloc() and free() implementation. This miniproject is optional for students in CS 4411; if you are in CS 4411 and choose to do MP2, the grade you receive on this miniproject will not hurt the grade in the course. It can only help!.
  • Oct 8: The location of the makeup prelim has changed to Olin 255.
  • Oct 7: We are making available Fall 2011 Prelim 1 to aid in preparation for prelim 1.
  • Oct 3: We have discovered ancient tablets inscribed with The Twelve Commandments of Synchronization!

Course Hours

4410 meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 2:55pm-4:10pm in Olin 155.

4411 meets slightly more often than every other week at 3:35pm-4:25pm on Fridays in Hollister B14.

Prelims and Exams

There will be two prelims, scheduled for the following dates and times:

  • 10/10/2013, 7:30pm-9:30pm, Olin Hall 155 and 255
    Makeup prelim, same day, 5:15pm-7:15pm, Olin 255
  • 11/26/2013, 7:30pm-9:30pm, Olin Hall 155 and 255
    Makeup prelim, same day, 5:15pm-7:15pm, Olin 255

Students whose last names begin with the letters A-L should head to Olin 155 for their prelims. Students whose last names begin with the letters M-Z should head to Olin 255.

Prelims and finals are closed-book. No electronic devices are allowed. For more information on dates and times please check the registrar's exam schedules.

Makeups are offered for the prelims on the same day at 5:15-7:15pm. A large room is already reserved for the makeup exam for Prelim 2, students do not need to email the course staff to let them know.

The final will take place on Tuesday December 17th 2013, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. The room is STL185: Statler Hall 185-Aud. For more information please check the registrar's final schedules and final room assignments. There is no makeup for the final. There is no way any other course you are enrolled in can have a conflicting final date and time.
