Questions have been asked about the choice of programming languages for Assignment 2.  After carefully consideration, the original wording of the question remains.  The program should be in Java or C++.  I am sorry not to be more flexible.

Course enrollment

We do not have enough laptops and wireless cards for everybody who has applied.  The remaining laptops and wireless cards have been allocated to people who have both (a) pre-registered for the class and (b) applied for a laptop on a class sign-up sheet.  If you fulfill these two conditions you should have received an email.

Other people may still enroll for the course, but without laptops. No part of the course will require use of laptops.

If you have been allocated a laptop and subsequently drop the course, we will re-issue your laptop to another student. If we have any extra laptops we will allocate them to people who applied, by drawing lots.

Reading for Wednesday, January 31

Since the textbooks have not yet arrived, we have made photocopies of the reading for this Wednesday.  They will be handed out in class on Tuesday, January 30, or can be collected from Rosemary Adessa, Upson 5147.

1/30/01

Text books

The Cornell store is temporarily out of text books.  More have been ordered from the publisher.

If you do not yet have a text book you should come to the discussion section on Wednesday, January 24.  The session is important, even if you have not been able to read the chapter that we will be discussing.
