[Apr 26; rev May 5]
As noted in Course Overview and Organization,
the final exam in Spring 2008 CS414 is optional. What this means is:
- If you attend the final exam and hand-in your paper, then it will contribute
to your grade as orignally specified in
Course Overview and Organization:
Each prelim counts 15% and the final counts 20%, so examinations
account for 50% of your course grade ((2 x 15%) + (1 x 20%) = 50%)
- If you do not hand in a final exam, then the course grade
we have posted for you is what you will receive. This was computed
by having each prelim
count 25%, so examinations account for 50% of your course grade
(2 x 25% = 50%)
Understand the risks of taking the final.
Your final course grade could go down or it could go up if you take the final.
And if you do not take the final, then your final course grade will not change
from what has been posted.
