Prerequisites:

The official prerequisite for course is CS211. Please speak to Prof. Selman if you haven't taken CS211. It shouldn't be a problem if you're taking CS211 concurrently.

Discrete Mathematics and its Applications (6th edition), Kenneth H. Rosen, McGraw-Hill.

Grading:

The final grade for the course will be determined as follows:

Homeworks: 35%
Midterm: 25% (scheduled for Nov. 9th)
Final: 40% (scheduled for Dec. 11th, 7:00-9:30pm, 101 Phillips Hall)

You will be able to track your homework/exam scores throughout the semester via the CMS website.

Newsgroup:

There is a newsgroup for the class: cornell.class.cs280. You should subscribe to the newsgroup. Post questions to the newsgroup regarding homework (or anything else relevant to the course), and one of the members of the course staff will try to answer it, usually the same day that you post it. If you don't know how to read newsgroups, here is some further information.

Homework:

There will be roughly 7-9 homework assignments spaced out over the course of the semester, all of equal weight. The lowest homework score will be dropped prior to calculating your final grade.

Late Homework Policy:

Homeworks must be turned in in class on the day that they are due. Late homework submissions will be penalized 20% for each day late.

Academic Integrity: It's OK to discuss the problems with others, but you MUST write up solutions on your own, and understand what you are writing. You may not copy any part of someone else's code or written homework. To do so is a violation of the Academic Integrity Code.
