Paul Chew will be unavailable from May 15 until May 18. Please direct any course-related questions during this period to David Levitan.
Lateness Policy for Part 4: There have been several requests for late submission of Part 4. Late assignments will be accepted until Thursday (May 13) at 10pm. There is a 20 point penalty for missing the original deadline (Monday, May 10). No assignments can be accepted after Thursday.
Availability of graded Part 4 assignments: For assignments turned in on time, grades will be available late on Thursday. For assignments turned in late, grades will be available by Friday morning.
Part 4 regrades: All regrade requests must be submitted (via CMS) by noon on Saturday, May 15. The usual regrade policy holds (i.e., only small changes to your code are allowed).
Last Section meeting (for help on Part 4): Monday, May10 at 12:20 in 205 Upson [Note that this is a different room than the normal 12:20 section]
There will be no Monday evening Section on May 10
Most of the grade for part 4 will be based on classes without inheritance. Inheritance will count for at most 25% of the grade.

Lecture for April 14: Week11 Implementing Objects.pdf
Update for Project Part 3: The example factorial program appearing in Project Part 3 had contained an error that has now been corrected. The base case for factorial now returns 1 instead the previous (incorrect) value of 0. Both versions of the program are legal Bali programs, but the error caused factorial to be computed incorrectly.

Project Part 3 is being simplified. The initial version was unnecessarily difficult. The revised version will appear here on Friday, March 19.

We have received several requests for late submissions of Project Part 2. Because this is the first assignment that is difficult, we have decided to allow late submissions with a 20 point penalty. Anyone who wishes my submit Part 2 up until Thursday at 11pm. A new submission cancels out any earlier submission (i.e., you lose the 20 points and we won't grade the earlier submission).
By request: special section meeting to discuss Eclipse, an IDE for Java that David Levitan prefers over DrJava.

Some example Bali-Part2 programs: p2Factorial.bali and p2Base7.bali. These programs have been tested; they have correct syntax and should produce correct results when run using a correct compiler. These programs test only a portion of your compiler; you are responsible for compiling the entire language as described in Project Part 2, including the parts not exercised by these example programs.
The CMS (Course Management System) for CS 212 has been cleared of all students who have turned in no HW at all.

General Information - CS 212 has now been posted. This includes information on prerequisites, software, homework, homework submission, working in teams, grading, course communication (e.g., website, newsgroup, and email), and academic integrity.
The first lecture (Week01 Introduction.pdf), has been placed on the website.
Sections will not meet for the second week of class. At the moment, the TA assignments are still in flux, so not all the Sections are covered.
The Sections for CS212 (M 1220-0110P, M 0730-0820P, and W 0730-0820P) will not meet during the first week. The plan for the rest of the semester is for attendance at the Sections to be optional. More information will be available at the first lecture (W 0335-0425P in Phillips 203).
This area is used for announcements (e.g., stuff recently placed online, corrections/clarifications to homework, scheduling updates, help sessions, etc.). The most-recent announcements are listed first.
