The Student Website

Students in CS 150 will be required to produce a simple website. Do not worry if you have never done this as we will provide both a written tutorial and help sessions as required.

The centerpiece of the website is an eight-semester academic plan that would set the stage for graduate study or employment in some field of interest that has a computational component. (Hardly a restriction nowadays!) Each of the eight speakers will provide URL’s to sites that have a bearing on their particular topic. You may or may not choose to pick up on these pointers, but they should be useful as your thinking clarifies about the role of computation in science, engineering, the arts, and the humanities.

Production of the academic plan will require you to become familiar with the course requirements imposed by your College and one or more undergraduate major. Again, we will offer support for this activity. Here is a sample plan for a CS major in Engineering who is interested in computational biology:

Students will also have on their website a 1-2 page “justification” of their academic plan with links to interesting websites that relate to the program of study.
