Getting the iRobot Create Simulator Toolbox

The simulator toolbox runs on most 2008 and later versions of Matlab. Use the PCs in campus computer labs if you have trouble with the simulator on your own machine.
Your own PC
  1. Download iRobotCreateSimulatorToolbox.zip and extract (open) the file. This gives you a folder called iRobotCreateSimulatorToolbox.
  2. Place the folder in a permanent location of the drive, e.g., C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2010a\toolbox
  3. In Matlab, click File, then select Set Path
  4. Click Add Folder, navigate to the toolbox folder you have just saved, e.g.,
    C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2010a\toolbox\iRobotCreateSimulatorToolbox
    select it, then click OK
  5. Click the Save button, then click Close
Some computer configurations require that the Administrator perform the save path operation. In that case quit Matlab and reopen it by right-clicking and choosing Run as Administrator. Then perform step 3 through 5 again.

We've had reports of some versions of Matlab missing several built-in functions. If you get an error message about a function deg2rad missing, then your version of Matlab is missing several functions. In that case download this zip file, extract (open) the file and copy the four functions (m-files) into to the ...\iRobotCreateSimulatorToolbox folder that you have already added to the Matlab path.

The iRobotCreateSimulatorToolbox folder is already on the machine but the Matlab path is incorrectly set using lowercase letters. Here is how to correct it:
  1. In Matlab, click File, then select Set Path
  2. Select the directory C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2010a\toolbox\irobotcreatesimulatortoolbox
    and click Remove
  3. Click Add Folder, navigate to the toolbox folder
    C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2010a\toolbox\iRobotCreateSimulatorToolbox
    select it, then click OK
  4. Click the Save button, then click Close
The correct path is now saved for the current session of Matlab. If you quit and re-start Matlab you will need to set the path again. (We are working with CIT to correct this problem. Stay tuned.)
