Picking up unclaimed papers:
From: Laurie Buck
There seems to be some confusion about when/where students may pick
up their graded papers if they didn't get them in section, so I'd like to
clarify this. Students do not
come to 303 to get their papers. The papers will be
available in Carpenter by 4:30 on
Thursdays.
Section instructors should return all
unclaimed papers to 303 asap after
their last section of the week.

CS100M Offering 2 Workshops to CS100J Students
Some spots opened up in the CS100M Academic Excellence Workshop (AEW)
schedule. So, CS100M is offering 2 workshops to CS100J students. These
workshops involve 2-hour lab sessions that run all semester. Although not
required for CS100, the labs teach non-remedial material to demonstrate
exciting problems in a non-competitive group setting.
Another great
feature is that you get to learn in a lab-oriented environment so that you
can improve your programming skills.
Sign-ups are occurring *now*, so please read the instructions ASAP
at:
http://www.cs.cornell.edu/Courses/cs100m/2000fa/aew.htm
Representatives from the CS100 AEW will also make an announcement during
CS100J's lecture this week.

If you are in Section 14, and your last name begins with one of
the letters L through Z,
you are requested to switch from Section 14 into Section 17.
If you have a strong preference to stay with a friend whose
last name
is in the other half of the alphabet from your own, please flip a coin
to choose whether the two of you stay in Section 14, or switch
into Section 17.
(If you will all follow this algorithm, we will split into
nearly equal
halves with high probability.)

Don't forget to monitor and use the CS100J News Group. It
is a great way to get quick answers to your questions, often from
a fellow student. For every question, there are probably 5 or
10 people who will find the answer helpful. So use the News Group. (For
help getting started, see the "Using
the Newsgroups" webpage.)
