    Course Hours

4410 meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 2:55pm-4:10pm in OLH 255.

4411 meets slightly more often than every other week at 3:35pm-4:25pm on Fridays in Holistair B14.

    Prelims and Exams

Prelims are scheduled for the following dates and times:

    • Tuesday, October 4, 7:30pm-9:30pm, Olin 155/Olin 165 (Makeup exam 5:15pm-7:15pm, 307 Phillips Hall)
    • Thursday, November 17, 7:30pm-9:30pm, Hollister B14/Upson B17 (Makeup exam 5:15pm-7:15pm, 315 Upson Hall).

Prelims and finals are closed-book. No electronic devices are allowed.

Makeups are offered for the prelims on the same day at 5:15-7:15pm. Please send a message to course staff at least one week ahead of the prelim, with the subject "Prelim Conflict", describing your conflict so we'll have an idea of how many people to expect for the makeup.

The final will take place on December 8, 7-9:30pm, in Statler 185. There is no makeup for the final. There is no way any other course you're enrolled in can have a conflicting final date and time.

    Textbook

    Operating System Concepts (8th Edition)
    Silberschatz, Galvin and Gagne.

There are two variants of the 8th edition of this book. Both are acceptable. If you really want to save money, you could even use the 7th edition of the book, with no loss of functionality in the course, though the text is a bit drier and harder to read.
