Recently, Prof. Birman's group has come up with the idea of a probabilistic broadcast protocol. The idea is to trade off delivery guarantees for scalability. We think that we can improve pbcast performance by taking network topology into account. For instance, a node might gossip more frequently with a local node, and less often with a distant node. The goal of this project is to quantify this improvement in performance using simulations and analysis. |
