	 to Persuasion\nSpeaker: Claire Cardie\nAbstract: A long line of research
	 in Natural Language Processing (NLP)\,\nincluding our own\, has
	 addressed the task of finding and extracting\nopinions in text.  This
	 talk will present some of our new research that \ntries go beyond the
	 automatic natural language analysis of opinions \nto focus instead on
	 (1) identifying and interpreting the arguments that\nunderlie them; and
	 (2) examining the role of language and NLP\ntechniques in the study of
	 persuasion in argumentative text.
