My research will combine the fields of evolutionary computing and biomechanics. Specifically, I plan to use genetic algorithms to evolve a better mathematical model of hand function.

I have been running since junior high school. My favorite race distance is the 10-miler (16K). I ran the Army Ten Miler in both 2002 and 2002. I have also run the Pittsburgh Marathon and the Detroit Marathon, and scores of 5K’s and 10K’s.
I’m a roadie, tried and true. I have done three bicycle tours – three weeks in the Canadian Rockies and Montana, one week along the coast of Lake Michigan, and one week in the badlands of North Dakota. One of these years, when I have the time, I’ll train for and do some bike races.
My favorite earthly possession is my car, a 2000 Audi S4. The S4 is one of the best cars made, IMHO. Its 2.7L twin turbo motor provides great torque and propels the car from 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. Its all-wheel-drive system provides tenacious grip year round (at least if you use snow tires in the winter, like I do). And I have replaced the stock suspension with H&R adjustable coilovers, which provide amazing grip and body control, as well as a remarkably comfortable ride.
I like the look of the 2000-2002 S4 better than that of the current S4. However, the current S4’s 340 hp, 4.2L V8 is very tempting. If I were still working, I would be seriously tempted…
