Shards of a Broken Land is a computer game designed and created
as part of
the Game Design Initiative at Cornell (GDIAC). It was developed over the
course of a summer and subsequent semester. The game is classified as a 3D
tactical strategy RPG and plays similar to a game of chess, except with
more varied abilities among each of the characters and with 3D particle
effects. The goal of the project was not only to build a game, but to build
an entire underlying framework which could be used to create all sorts of
different games using pluggable configuration files and scripts to be run
by a custom scripting engine. The project was supervised by Professor David
Schwartz.
