Faculty Personnel Changes

New Faculty in Spring 1999
Bill Arms joined the faculty in May, 1999 as a Professor from his position as Vice President at the Corporation for National Research Initiatives. His research interests include digital libraries and electronic publishing.

New Faculty in Fall 1999
Johannes Gehrke, who is receiving his PhD from University of Wisconsin, and who works in databases, joins the faculty in fall 1999 as Assistant Professor.
David Schwartz, who joins the faculty as Assistant Professor, has written programming textbooks.

Departures
Ronitt Rubinfeld has accepted a research position at NEC.
David Gries will become a Professor at the University of Georgia.
Brian Smith has accepted a position at Netpliance.
Srinivasan Keshav has joined Ensim.

Sabbaticals and Leaves
Tim Teitelbaum returns from a semester leave. Dan Huttenlocher, Praveen Seshadri, Eva Tardos, and Thorsten von Eicken are on academic year leaves.
