About Me

My resume and CV are available.

I'm a computer science PhD student at Cornell University, currently working on my thesis. While an undergraduate at Duke University I majored in computer science and math, and minored in economics. Before then I came from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, a village near Cleveland.

My computer science activities before I came to Cornell included competing in the ACM ICPC (including the 2003 world finals), working on visualization tools (one of which even resulted in a book), and writing a timer program to teach myself Cocoa and getting a review in Macworld.

Less productive non-work activities include thinking about human and machine learning and thinking, reading old novels, writing half finished pieces of writing (and code), and recreational programming.

I have three major non-work hobbies: writing, astronomy, and photography.
