Short Bio: Ashish Sabharwal is a Research Associate in Computer Science at Cornell University, and works at Institute for Computational Sustainability (ICS) and the Intelligent Information Systems Institute (IISI). He received his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Washington, Seattle in 2001/2005, and was a Postdoctoral Associate at Cornell till 2008. His research interests include combinatorial methods, probabilistic inference, multi-agent reasoning, connections to statistical physics, game theory, algorithm design, and complexity. Most recently, his work involves appying these techniques to applications in Computational Sustainability, ranging from wildlife conservation to sustainable community development and discovery of new materials. He has (co-)authored over 30 publications and surveys, including two Best Paper Awards, one Runner-Up Prize, and four best paper nominations.
